The wedding day timeline app for planners who are standing up.

Day mode is the wedding day timeline app for planners inside I Said Yes: the one screen in the product designed for a barn with one bar of signal, a phone in one hand and fourteen hours on your feet. It runs the running order you already built, and nothing else.

On both plans, Planning and Complete.

01

A wedding day timeline app for planners should move the whole day with one number.

Say you are twenty minutes down and every item still to come moves with it, while the registrar’s slot, the ceremony and the curfew stay exactly where the world fixed them. You mark those as fixed in the running order you built beforehand, with how long each item takes, and day mode does the arithmetic on the day.

  • One offset for the day
  • Fixed moments stay put
  • Done items never move

02

A clash is named in plain words, and it stays until the day is fixed.

Every time the day moves, day mode works out whether anything now runs into a moment that cannot move, whether a gap has been squeezed below what the item needs, and whether the same person is now due in two places. It says so in one amber line under the header, and the line does not go away until the clash does.

  • Past a fixed moment
  • Past the curfew
  • One person in two places

Everything you reach for all day is one tap from the screen you are on.

Now and next at the top, then a tile for each thing you reach for all day: the dietary list, who’s who, the suppliers and when each arrived, the weather, the table plan, the numbers and the timings. The part of the day decides their order, a tile opens in one tap, and nothing on the screen is small enough to miss with a thumb.

  • Targets 56px or larger
  • Nothing needs hover
  • No confirmation dialogs

It keeps working when the barn has no signal.

The whole day is kept on the phone the moment day mode opens, so reading it never waits for the network. Anything you do while the signal is gone queues and replays in order when you are back, the header says how many changes are waiting, and the same day prints on A4 for the clipboard if the phone gives up first.

  • Cached when it opens
  • Changes queue on the phone
  • Nothing silently dropped
